The e-learning course offered "Think about it" mini quiz questions along the way, and the actual html writing was done in very small but meaningful exercises. The quiz questions were in different formats-T/F, multiple choice and matching.
The mini- quiz questions would also provide clarification after indicating whether the answer was correct or not, and some questions offered a second, pop up option of rating the question, inviting learners to offer feedback to the course designers. Following the reinforcement quizzes there was a review of the major points, as if asked in an advice column (this one entitled "ask Sparks the Wonder Dog"). In the image, Sparks does not appear in entirety, due to the fact that he was blinking. Interestingly, the "Blink" lesson in "WebMonkey" was quite pointed in referring to "flashing" or "blinking" images on webpages as something to be avoided at all costs.
Where the WebMonkey lessons were perhaps a little brief, the e-learning sessions became far more involved than I wanted to commit to. However, in this instance, there was not so much information as to be overwhelming, but certainly enough to provide a learner with a solid foundation of skills. This resulted in my second, MUCH more polished page:

I hope this page grows and also changes frequently. Currently I am using it as Hey look what I can do, aren't I a clever girl!? Currently I am discovering that writing your own HTML must be an awful lot like going to Detroit and spot welding on your own SUV. 'Course if I were REALLY clever, I would insert an image of an SUV here, or a Ford plant, or something. But I haven't done that lesson yet......sorry.
So I proudly went back and completed the assessment again, and received THIS certificate:
