Ben Reilly Vs. ???
We all know that our boy Ben can jump, punch and think his way past nearly any villain that he encounters, but how would he fare against other heroes?
I pondered this question, and this is what I came up with. Please note that this is my analysis of characters, and that past battles don't necessarily affect the outcome of these tussles. This is my page, and I can do what I want! If you really want to debate or suggest a character for every one's favorite clone to hypothetically battle, e-mail me, and we'll talk. If you want to yell at me because you think that Wolverine could beat Ben or that Spawn and Benjy should fight, I don't want to hear it.
The battles listed are just a partial list, and I will update the page occasionally. If you want to suggest some one, click the blue writing up above. Keep in mind though, that I only pit Reilly against characters that I know a little about, and I don't read Image books at all.
- Ben vs. Peter Parker :
- I figured I'd have to start with this one. This would, naturally, be a pretty even battle, but Ben's impact webbing and stingers may give him the edge he needs. Odds : I'm gonna give Ben 3 to 2 odds on this.
- Ben vs. Superman :
- No contest. I'm sorry Scarlet, but there's no chance against the man of steel. Spider-Man may be the coolest hero and, IMHO, one of the best, but Supes is and will always be the greatest. Odds : Superman wins every time.
- Ben vs. Wolverine :
- This is a tricky one. On the Spider-Man listserver we discussed this one, and figured that Spidey would probably outlast Wolvie by dodging every attack, webbing him up at a convenient time and tossing him into the Hudson River or whatever. However, Wolvie has the drive to keep going at the wall crawler (or his clone, in this case) to the death, if he was so inclined. Odds : Ben wins 3 to 2
- Ben vs. Batman :
- Well, I like the Dark Knight and all, but a normal human doesn't stand much of a chance against an arachnoid clone. Still, given the right circtumstances, Batman might just outsmart the web slinger. Odds : Spider-Man wins 10 to 1
- Ben vs. Captain America :
- Steve Rogers is fast, smart, and strong, but he and that weird shield of his wouldn't really hold up against Reilly and his webbing. Cap's only hope would be to outsmart the webhead. Odds : Spider-Man wins 10 to 1
- Ben vs. Rogue :
- I'd like to see this fight, and not just because I like Rogue. She's strong, can fly, and has a cute accent. Ben's still fast enough to make it interesting. Most fights would probably end up in stalemates. Odds : Even match.
- Ben vs. Hulk :
- Like against Wolverine, it depends on how badly Hulk wanted to squish our favorite bug. Ben's fast enough with his spider-sense to stay away from the greenmeister, though. Question is : how would Reilly make an offensive against our nuclear Goliath? Spdier-Man's strength has been noted to be second only to that of the Thing, Thor, and the Hulk, but it's significantly less than the Hulk's. Odds : Hulk wins 5 to 1
- Ben vs. Flash :
- This would be another cool match-up. Flash is waaay faster than clone-boy, and possibly even fast enough to beat the Spider-sense. Still, Ben is super strong and has his webbing. Odds : Flash wins 5 to 1
- Ben vs. Superboy :
- This has already been played out in Marvel vs. DC, and our boy wrapped that mismatch up quickly. Superboy can take a lot of abuse, but he's not completely invulnerable like Superman. He can fly, but he's not as fast as Spidey. Odds : Ben wins 3 to 1
- Ben vs. FF :
- Well, Ben vs. Thing is about the same as Ben vs. Hulk. The Spider-Sense would guide him against the Invisible Woman, but the psionic bubbles are a force to be reckoned with. I'd have to give Sue 3 to 1 odds there. Mr. Fantastic might pull off a victory if he plans right, but Scarlet would take the average battle, so I'll give him 5 to 1 odds. A Ben vs. Human torch bout would be neat to see. I'll give them even odds.
- Ben vs. Green Lantern :
- Kyle Rayner has a pretty neat power, and could annihilate Ben fairly easily. Another cool fight. (They gotta do more Marvel vs. DCs!) Odds : GL wins 20 to 1.
- Ben vs. The Tick :
- Ol' blue is one of my favorite heroes (next to Spidey and Ben, natch), so I'd pay good money to see this fight. More entertaining than the physical blows would be the constant onslaught of wit and humour from these insects. Ben is swift enough to get some good hits on Tick, but Tick (who is none too swift) is nigh invulnerable, and would be hard to take down. Odds : Even match.
- Ben vs. Arthur :
- Yeah, this was mostly a joke. Tick's pudgy little ex-accountant sidekick wouldn't last 30 seconds with Ben. Odds : Spidey every time
- Ben vs. Iron Man :
- Tony makes a good hero, but all his fancy rich-boy toys wouldn't do much against Ben. Odds : Ben wins 10 to 1
- Ben vs. Thor :
- I've never been much of a Thor-fan, but it doesn't take much to realise that he's a formidable foe. Can't scoff at Reilly either, though. Odds : Even match
- Ben vs. Dardevil :
- Matt's a pretty swingin' guy, but his relatively meager physical strength and speed make him a pretty easy adversary. Odds : Ben wins 15 to 1
- Ben vs. Silver Surfer :
- Ben would have to get ahold of some o' those cosmic powers Peter had for a while to expect to take on the sentinel of the spaceways. Odds : Silver Surfer every time.
- Spider-Man vs. ??? :

Disclaimer : I didn't make Spider-Man up. Don't sue me. 'Nuff said.
