FARRELL

HISTORICAL INFORMATION:

David Farrell emigrated to Canada from Dublin during the 1840’s or 1850’s with a brother, John, and sister, Ellen. David’s religious affiliation changed from Catholic to Baptist when he met and married Sarah Dow. This caused a rift in the family as John remained Catholic.

Apparently Farrell’s owned a chain of men’s clothing stores in Ireland, Wales, and England. Another snippet of the Farrell family history has the father of David, John, and Ellen involved in some misdeed in Ireland which led to the three children emigrating. Like so many stories, this has not been confirmed. No one knows the father’s name although Glenna Myles, granddaughter of George Farrell and Ada (Cropley) Farrell found the death record for a George Farrell in Dublin who had several sons, including one named David.
