Sunshine Llama Farm

Sunshine Llama Farm is located near Merritt B.C. in the lower Nicola Valley. We have been raising these loveable animals for nine years and specialize in guard, packing and pet stock.

Llamas are naturally curious and they like to investigate anything or anyone. This makes them especially valuable for guard animals for they rarely miss seeing anything that enters the pastures. A coyote attempting to sneak up on a sheep herd protected by a llama is apt to leave when this 300 lb. llama approaches them. Due to their curious nature they do not need training to become guard animals as they are doing what comes naturally. One thing they cannot overcome is a pack of dogs or a cougar as they have as their defense only their speed and intelligence. The llamas we have trained for performance classes in shows have consistently brought home the ribbons. Calm, quiet and easily handled these llamas are excellent for packing or pets.         Anyone wanting a great "stress reliever", will find llamas to be therapeutic and calming to be with them. They make great hiking companions and the bonus is they carry all the gear.
Fiber produced and gathered from the llamas when they are sheared annually can be used for a variety of project such as knitting into sweaters, hats or mitts . Other uses include felting the fiber for boot liners, vests or saddle blankets. It is also good for quilt batts or duvets.

Isn't this a great looking animal?         Come share in the serenity of these peaceful creatures!
